불교에 [무아]라는 개념이 있다.
‘과거의 나, 미래의 나는 지금의 나와 다르다. 그렇기 때문에 ‘진정한 나’라는 고정 자아는 존재하지 않는다. 라는 것이다.
결국 내가 가진 것 또한 영원히 나에게 속하는 것이 아니니 가지려하지 말고, 어떤 것에 집착할 필요도 없다는 교훈을 준다.
무아는 어떤 것도 가지지 않으며 어떠한 특성도, 표정도 없다.
‘무아’라는 개념을 캐릭터로 표현함으로써 스스로의 욕심많은 자아와 무아의 빈 표정이 마주하게 되길 바랐다.
